Earning a degree in an environment that prioritizes learning and also spiritual growth impacts students all across Palm Beach Atlantic University. As students study for a professional life they also strengthen morals and ethical values which point to Christ.
Rachel Dawson, sophomore, grew up in a Christian home, and wanted to continue to be a part of a Christian community in college. Coming from Georgia, PBA’s Christ- centered education brought her down to Florida to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.
She has been able to apply several of her lessons in the classroom to her faith. She has found that education has helped build on her foundation in Christ.
Chapel and other student-led activities have given students the opportunity to take breaks in their busy schedule to practice their faith. It creates a community that fosters friendships around Jesus.
Natalie Helton, sophomore, has learned that having some of the same values and beliefs with her friends have helped her create lasting friendships.
“Iron sharpens iron,” said Helton.
As an RA, Dawson is seeing her girls finding encouragement and being accepted in a community like never before. Students are able to have a space where the foundation of friendships is built on Christ and are able to find support and advice from fellow peers.
Not only is there an impact on the students but on the PBA staff as well, according to Dawson. She has the privilege of working with many staff workers and sees the Spirit working through them as they lead our school towards good morals and values.
Dawson believes a Chrisitan university shapes students to value learning but also grow spiritually. It can shape many to a new life and provide a source of hope.
“It has enabled me to make life decisions with more peace and let God lead,” said Dawson.
