Haunted corn maze helps save lives

Betsy Nichols hosts a corn maze event to raise money for a local suicide prevention organization every Halloween in Berkshire County, Mass.

Nichols wanted to make a change where she lived by spreading awareness of something dear to her heart: suicide prevention. This is why she started Purgatory Road’s Haunted Corn Maze.

“When we started talking to various people about it, we didn’t realize how prevalent suicide was,” Nichols said. “So we made that our mission, to raise as much money and awareness as possible.”

Not only do the people who go through the maze get a good scare, but they are also able to help raise money for The Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention. All funds the coalition receives go to help youth struggling with suicide directly in Berkshire County.
